Dispositivi per l’intimità dei rituali domestici 

In un passato recente la casa poteva aiutare a stabilizzare la vita degli uomini attraverso oggetti, arredi e spazi in cui ritrovare la propria identità  grazie a una chiara suddivisione tra la sfera pubblica e la sfera domestica.

Oggi, in tempi mutati e nella condizione digitale che tutto avvolge, nelle semplici mura domestiche è più difficile immaginare un luogo “altro” rispetto al mondo esterno: diviene pertanto necessario avere luoghi di maggiore intimità spirituale, ambiti che preservino la ritualità all’interno dello spazio domestico.

Antonie de Saint Exupery descrive nel romanzo Cittadella i riti come tecniche temporali di accasamento, riti che sono nella vita ciò che le cose sono nello spazio. Il progetto di Marcante-Testa per “Campo Base 2023” fa riferimento agli spazi eterotopici che, come teorizzato da Michel Foucault, sono quei “luoghi che hanno la particolare caratteristica di essere connessi a tutti gli altri spazi, ma in modo tale da sospendere, neutralizzare o invertire l’insieme dei rapporti che essi stessi designano, riflettono o rispecchiano”.

Gli arredi diventano per i progettisti degli spazi a protezione dei nostri rituali domestici, creando una nuova dimensione spazio/temporale in cui poter dare stabilità alla nostra vita .

Nella casa ciò che definisce uno spazio è anche limite per un altro spazio più protetto, dedicato all’intimità, alla relazione con il nostro essere interiore dove sentirci, ascoltarci, dialogare, pregare, ma anche immaginare e sognare.

Per i bambini è sufficiente chiudere o coprire gli occhi per diventare invisibile e questo corrisponde al nostro istinto naturale di protezione che rimane in noi.

Quando cresciamo, questo semplice gesto è proiettato nel nostro spazio domestico.

Marcante-Testa immagina muri della casa che inglobano arredi che diventano dispositivi eterotopici, gusci di raccoglimento dove inginocchiarsi, sedersi e sdraiarsi immaginando lo spazio domestico come il limite estremo dell’esigenza di trovare comfort in un luogo creato dall’uomo.

In questa nuova articolazione dello spazio domestico, anche le pareti e i soffitti si spogliano della loro semplice funzione architettonica di delimitazione per diventare dispositivi sensoriali: il soffitto torna a soddisfare l’esigenza dell’uomo di posare lo sguardo verso “l’alto” e le pareti tessili agiscono come “smorzatori” del rumore di fondo della vita quotidiana.

In questo percorso nell’intimità domestica ogni rito deve avere un suo “luogo” di espressione, anche quelli più reconditi e meno manifesti dove anche l’introspezione e la “confessione” trovano sede in un arredo specifico.

La casa è un nuovo confessionale domestico, è un luogo di “assoluzione” e perdono verso se stessi e verso gli altri, è un luogo capace di conoscenza intima e riflessione sul nostro rapporto con gli altri esseri viventi e dove tentare di dare stabilità alla vita.

Domestic Confessional ha presentato in anteprima “Marcante-Testa Something”, una nuova realtà creata dallo studio, dedicata al design di prodotti e superfici.
